Experience the magical Saunas of Lapland Winter Park's Rovaniemi Sauna World

Rovaniemi Sauna World – where tradition meets adventure

It all started with one sauna. Then came another. Before we knew it, we had six saunas. Yes, we may have gone a bit overboard. But once we had the saunas, we realized something was missing – of course, pools! Hot and cold, naturally - and why not a jacuzzi for the ultimate experience!

In Finland, and especially in Lapland, sauna is a vital part of life. It is where we relax, refresh, and sometimes even whip ourselves with birch branches (do not worry, it is more fun than it sounds!). Our Sauna World offers a rich cultural experience where you can dive deep into the Finnish way of unwinding.

Here, you will discover a variety of saunas, each with its own unique charm. Whether you are soaking up the views from our scenic sauna or indulging in the rustic ambiance of our traditional wood-heated sauna, you are guaranteed an authentic, revitalizing experience. And for those who want the full adventure, jump from the heat of the sauna into one of our icy or warm pools to complete the ritual or perhaps you would dare to make a snow angel in the snow.

We want you to feel relaxed after the Sauna World experience. We'll provide you with towels, bathrobes, slippers, a non alcoholic-drink and a tapas plate (please indicate upon your arrival if you would like to choose a vegetarian/vegan option) afterwards. You only have to bring your own swimsuit/bikini along.

Please change your tickets for wristbands at our reception upon your arrival.

The experience lasts for 90 minutes. Please enter before 3pm to have neough time to fully enjoy the Sauna World.

Sauna

Kesä - Summer

A sauna where the basic elements of the Finnish summer, such as the smell of birch, are strongly present. This sauna brings the freshness of summer and close to nature, offering a relaxing and refreshing experience. A summer sauna essentially includes birch bark and other traditional sauna elements.

Sauna

Savu - Smoke

Savu sauna brings out the unique smell of a traditional smoke sauna without the challenge created by smoke. The aroma of the smoke sauna offers a relaxing and nostalgic experience. The structure resembles a traditional smoke sauna without smoke or soot floating in the air.

Sauna

Maisema - Scenery

This sauna offers wonderful views of the surrounding nature in many directions. The fun round windows allow you to relax in the beautiful scenery and through them you can admire the surrounding forested nature - possibly even the northern lights.

Sauna

Terva - Tar

A tar sauna is a sensory journey into Finnish tradition. Infused with the rich, smoky aroma of tar, this sauna envelops you in soothing warmth and the timeless essence of Lapland's forests, offering relaxation like no other. Tar has a huge role in Finnish history and what better than to enjoy the scent of it in sauna, another huge element in Finnish history.

Sauna

Kota - Hut

Finnish sauna is deeply rooted in the nation's traditions, symbolizing a place for relaxation, cleansing, and socialization. The sauna is typically a small wooden room heated by a stove, often reaching temperatures between 70-100°C (158-212°F). The ritual involves alternating between the hot sauna and cooling off, either by taking a dip in a cold lake, rolling in the snow, or simply stepping outside.

Sauna

Tynnyri - Barrell

The round shape of this sauna and the natural essence of the wood perfectly complement the scent of pine trees and the peace of the forest. The unique design of this sauna guarantees even heat and a pleasant sauna experience where you can enjoy the sounds and scenery of nature. The barrel sauna blends comfortably into the surrounding forest landscape, offering a relaxing moment amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Warm outdoor hot tub

Finnish hot tub is a modern complement to the traditional sauna experience, emphasizing relaxation, socializing, and enjoying the outdoors. Often located in private homes, cottages, or outdoor terraces, Finnish hot tubs, typically heated by electricity or wood-burning stoves, provide a soothing warm water experience year-round, even in winter. The hot tub is often used in combination with a sauna, where people alternate between the intense heat of the sauna and the gentle warmth of the hot tub.

Traditional cold pool dip

Finnish ice swimming known as avanto swimming, is a beloved and invigorating tradition that involves taking a dip in icy water during the winter months. Often practiced in frozen lakes or rivers, a hole is cut into thick ice to create an opening, or avanto, where swimmers can immerse themselves. This activity is typically done after a sauna session, creating a dramatic contrast between the intense heat of the sauna and the freezing cold of the water.

Sauna World is not just about sweating – it is about a journey into Finnish culture, a moment of peace, and a celebration of life in its purest form. Come, relax, refresh, and leave invigorated.

Our Sauna World is open daily between 11am and 5pm. Please enter at 3pm the latest to fully enjoy the experience!
