Welcome to stay with us in November, the month when the Arctic winter begins to settle gently over Lapland. The days grow shorter and softer, the forest falls quiet, and the long northern nights open one of the finest windows of the whole year for the Northern Lights. It is a peaceful time in Rovaniemi, before the Christmas season arrives in full.
Our activity park opens on 1st December, so the full park experience is not yet underway during a November stay. Your chalet or villa is ready and waiting, our Hawu restaurant welcomes you every day, and from 15th November you are warmly invited to Rovaniemi Sauna World. Alongside these, we have carefully chosen a selection of tours from local partners we know and trust, so that your days here are filled with the very best of Lapland.
Every tour we recommend includes pickup and drop-off at Lapland Winter Park. Your guide will collect you from the resort and bring you safely back again, leaving you free to simply enjoy the experience.

What to expect in November
November is a month of soft and beautiful light. Rovaniemi enjoys around seven hours of daylight at the beginning of the month and just under four by its end, so much of your day unfolds in the gentle blue twilight that Finns hold so dear. Outdoor activities are wonderful in this light, and we recommend packing a headlamp for the afternoons and evenings.
Every November in Lapland is a little different. In some years the snow arrives early and settles for the winter, and in others it comes later, closer to December. We cannot promise snow for your particular dates, and we would always rather be honest with you than leave you disappointed. What we can promise is that our partners know this landscape well and will adapt each experience to the conditions of the day.
The long nights are a gift for anyone hoping to see the Northern Lights. From early evening until the early hours, the sky is dark enough for the aurora to appear. Sightings always depend on solar activity and clear skies, which is why we warmly recommend a guided tour, where your guide will travel to find the clearest weather and give you the very best chance.
November is also a quieter month than December. Groups are smaller, the forest feels more your own, and there is a stillness here that many of our guests remember long after they have returned home.
At Lapland Winter Park during your November stay
Rovaniemi Sauna World. Step into warmth and tranquility in our collection of uniquely designed saunas, jacuzzis, a traditional wood-heated hot tub and a refreshing cold plunge pool. Open from 15th November and available to book in advance.
Hawu Restaurant. Open daily for breakfast, our lunch buffet and dinner, with flavours that capture the purity of Lapland.
A private sauna beside your chalet. Our wood-heated Hiutale sauna can be brought to your own yard for two peaceful hours, reserved three days in advance.
The forest around you. The resort rests on thirteen hectares of Arctic nature, and you are welcome to wander the grounds and enjoy the quiet at your own pace.
Getting around in November
Our free shuttle bus rests during November and returns for the full winter season in December. With this in mind, we have chosen every tour on this page so that it begins and ends here at Lapland Winter Park, with pickup and drop-off included.
Should you wish to visit Rovaniemi city centre or Santa Claus Village independently, we would be very happy to arrange a private transfer for you. Simply let us know before you arrive, or speak with our reception team during your stay.

Winter clothing rental
Warm clothing makes all the difference to a day spent in the Arctic, and there is no need to fill your suitcase with gear you will wear for only a few days. Through our partners, you can rent everything you need and have it waiting for you when you arrive.

Frequently asked questions
Is the activity park open in November?
No. Our activity park opens on 1 December. During a November stay you have our Hawu restaurant, the resort grounds, Rovaniemi Sauna World from 15 November, and the partner tours listed on this page. If there is snow there is a possibility that some of the other activities will be operational, but there is no chance of knowing that in advance.
When does Rovaniemi Sauna World open?
Sauna World opens on 15 November and can be booked in advance. If your stay falls before that date, it will not yet be open.
Is the shuttle bus running in November?
No, our free shuttle bus does not operate in November. Every tour listed on this page includes pickup and drop-off at Lapland Winter Park, so you will not need it. For independent trips into the city or to Santa Claus Village, we can arrange a private transfer on request.

Will there be snow in November?
Every November is different here. In some years snow arrives early in the month, and in others it comes closer to December, so we are never able to guarantee snow for particular dates. Our partners adapt their experiences to the conditions of each day, and our team is always happy to advise you closer to your arrival.
Can we see the Northern Lights in November?
November offers one of the longest aurora viewing windows of the season, thanks to very long nights. Sightings depend on solar activity and clear skies, so a guided tour that travels to find clear weather gives you the best chance.
Do we need to book activities in advance?
We recommend it. Tours run with limited places and fixed departure times, and booking ahead means you get the day and time that suits your stay.

All tours listed on this page are operated by independent local partners we have selected and recommend. They are not operated by Lapland Winter Park.
Can we rent winter clothing?
Yes. You can order online through our partner and have it delivered to your chalet or villa, or collect it yourself.
Is the restaurant open in November?
Yes. Our Hawu restaurant is open daily for breakfast, buffet lunch and dinner.
